It’s Been Another Year

It's hard to believe it's been another year…

I remember my grandparents telling me that time just goes faster as you get older. Therefore, I must be getting old…it's crazy how fast time is flying.

2022 was filled with leaving the corporate world and entering entrepreneurship. It was finding our stride in Michigan as cannabis farmers. It was trying to figure out what we were going to do to celebrate our 50th birthdays.

2023 looks to be filling with change. Though still an entrepreneur, I continually learn, grow, and evolve my offerings. I'm still doing the high-touch advisor and consulting with corporate clients, as there is nothing better than seeing a client evolve into the organization they believed they could be. I’m also spending more time exploring a part of my work that I had focused on less…though it was always integrated in my approach to work.

For organizations, I'm focusing more on the fundamentals of leadership, teaming, and culture with an inclusive lens. I believe that is my sweet-spot, helping organizations evolve their leaders, teams, and cultures to being more inclusive. Why? The fundamentals of leadership, teaming, and culture haven't changed. What's different, is incorporating perspectives of all employees instead of focusing on the perspectives of those at the top.

For individuals, I'm developing programs that provide women access to content that they may or may not get in their organizations. These offerings are educational, coaching-like, and peer supported. Topics include identity, leadership through an inclusive lens, and developing agency to live our lives despite the roles and expectations that are put upon us. This is really exciting work and has already piqued the interest of some of my organizational clients as they are looking for ways to support their women.

I'm calling these programs Lead Stoked and Live Stoked. Why? Well if you know me, you know I use the word "stoked" all of the time…it must be my California upbringing.

But it's something else, "Stoked" evokes something different.

Do you have engaged clients? Or stoked clients?

Are you happy about achieving that goal? Or are you stoked?

It's that difference that I want to evoke for my clients, whether they are organizations or individuals. For me, it brings about the more authentic and meaningful changes my clients seek.

I suppose I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention our other big change…our time with Grasshopper Farms is ending. After 21/2 years, it's time to go home…to the San Francisco Bay Area. Our time at Grasshopper was never going to be permanent, 3-5 years, but life circumstances have called us home. So the next few months will be full of transitioning to our next chapter.

We've learned so much in our time in Michigan and are so grateful for the experience. We’ll miss our friends and the hustle and bustle of the farm. We also are excited to be home, closer to family and friends. In other words, we’re feeling all of the feels.

As Matt and I look into some significant change for the 2nd half of the year, we hope you are looking into to some excitement for yourself!
